Try Gutenberg on WordPress’s New Interactive Page.

August 3, 2018

WordPress.org recently just published a new page that allows you to test out the Gutenberg editor without downloading it or even owning a WordPress site!

On this interactive page, you’re able to test the new editor’s capabilities and see for yourself how it works. Upon accessing the page, you’re greeted with the words, “Say Hello to the New Editor.” From here, you can scroll down to learn more about Gutenberg as you play around with and edit the page.

Don’t be fooled by its looks; this is a webpage, not the editor.

Just as if you were using the real editor, the whole page is preserved in the form of editable blocks that allow you to experience the true power of Gutenberg.

Never before have I visited a website where I could write a new header and edit every single element. I believe that this fun, interactive page really does a great job of selling the new editor and encouraging WordPress users to adopt the new editor.

In the middle of the page, you can see a “call to action” button that asks visitors to download the new Gutenberg editor. Along with the user prompt in the WordPress 9.8.2 Beta release, we are starting to see WordPress really promote the editor.

If you haven’t visited this page yet, go check it out and let us know what you think! We really had a blast playing around with it and learning more about what WordPress has in store for us in the coming months.
